Finding a decent horror remake is like fondling around for a chunk of carrot in a bucket of vomit. Generally, there ain't much of them, and they make us devise gross-out analogies like the one you've just read.

This update of George A. Romero's small-town thriller looks pretty good though. In fact, after Romero's Dawn of the Dead was given a fine 're-telling' a few years back, we've definitely got highish hopes for it, and its impending veiny, skin-popping nastiness.

Timothy Olyphant stars as a sherrif in a small American town, whose inhabitants start to turn into diseased killer mentalists, courtesy of a contaminated water supply. The concept is almost like a doubly claustrophobic, small town American 28 Days Later. But considering that the original The Crazies pre-dates 28 Days... by nearly three decades, you can't go accusing this one of theft!
