A normal citizen exacts terrible revenge after seeing his wife and child murdered in this proper, proper thriller
By Ben Raworth
October 2009
Clyde Shelton, played by the always superb Gerard Butler, is just a normal guy living a normal life when his house is invaded by two violent criminals. Shelton sees his wife and young daughter shot down in cold blood, and then becomes victim for a second time when one of the killers plea bargains his way off death row.
Ten years later Shelton begins his huge act of revenge, and the main object of his wrath is Assistant DA Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx). Unbeknown to Rice, Shelton is a genius planner and inventor. That's all we can say: with more tension than a high-wire and more twists than a pubic hair you gots to see this. Gots to.
