Written and directed by the screen icon, this sees 78-year-old Clint playing yet another solitary, granite-chinned, no sh*t-talking badass - Walt Kowalski. Kowalski is a Korean war veteran who's dismayed at everything around him, spending his days sitting on his porch drinking lager, his American flag proudly on display while he grunts, growls and spits at everyone he sees. Soon though, local thug culture spills over onto his own lawn, and he finds himself forced to intervene.
On the whole, Gran Torino is a wild ride. Clint is fantastic, and the themes the film explores - honour, pride, violence, old age and the deterioration of old-fashioned values - are dealt with classily.
