No seriously. Come over here, sit down and pay attention.
Ready?
It's actually pretty good.
It's hard to make an MMO these days without it being compared to Warcraft... so we won't bother trying not to. If you have played Warcraft before, then you'll feel right at home with the controls and the way the game plays, button layout, and even some basic commands. If you haven't played Warcraft... don't.
From what we've seen and played, Star Wars: The Old Republic one ups Warcraft with the story and the world it's set in. Yes, the lore of Warcraft is vast and expansive, but more welcoming and familiar than Star Wars? We think not. More confusing yes, but otherwise no.
Set far enough away from the time of the films, but not so far that you won't run into related events, you choose from light side or dark side, then one of four classes within. Something new is that you can be a dark side nice guy, or a light side bad guy should you so desire, but we all know dark side is bestest so why mess around?!
Fans of the character interaction in Knights of the Old Republic and more recently Mass Effect (also from Bioware) will be pleased to see the conversation thread choices firmly in place when conversing with NPC's, ALL OF WHOM ARE FULLY VOICED. Immense.
We can see ourselves getting really sucked into SW:TOR and if you're a sucker for MMOs and the Star Wars franchise, then so will you.
Stay tuned for more!
