Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Release Date: 12-10-2011

Ezio is back, possibly for the last time, and boy is he getting on a bit.

We're in Istanbul. It's hot, the city is incredible, the women are beautiful and the food is amazing. BUT THAT'S NOT WHY WE'RE HERE. Assassin's Creed: Revelations sits before us, tempting us in a way only previously done by said beautiful women... and the food of course. OM NOM NOM.

Fired up, the first impression of ACR is DAMN, EZIO GOT OLD. But relax, he only looks it (there wasn't any Oil of Olay back then), and he's soon swinging around like a monkey armed with a wrist blade. Speaking of the wrist blade, the biggest change in ACR is that you now have a hook blade, which gives you a whole new set of moves to do both in the air, and on the ground.

The city of Istanbul has been beautifully recreated, as you would have come to expect from Ubisoft by now, with their previous work shining through in the Assassin's Creed franchise. Landmarks such as the Hagia Sophia have been faithfully rebuilt, as some of the pictures should attest. Ezio is here, hunting down the pieces of the Eden puzzle left behind by Altair, in an effort to end this war that has lasted his entire lifetime.

One of the stand out moments for us was hop, skipping, jumping and climbing through a massive underground cavern, all while being pursued by our old buddies the Templars, in order to find one of the keys hidden away in it's depths. There were some proper nail biting moments, let us tell you!

Other than the hook blade, bombs are also a new addition in ACR, with multiple types for any given situation, distraction, repelling and good old fashioned killing. That's what we like to see. In terms of enemies, there are some proper gits running around trying to stab you, whether they've been hired to do so or they're just those mentallists who have evolved from shoving with hands to shoving with knives, who knows?

Be prepared for an emotionally charged, epic conclusion to both Ezio's and Desmond's story.
