Many of us dream of having an authentic '80s arcade cabinet in their flat. For me personally, a Double Dragon street brawler to remind me of a time, aged seven, when the thieving lunk robbed me of copious old school 10p coins and I still couldn't pass the first level.
Just launched to the tune of £2,200, the Apex Play is a classic amusement cabinet styling for two players, except it has two selling points.
Firstly, you don't need to pop down to your local Natwest or raid gran's coin collection for old 10p coins, as its 'credit system' is entirely electronic. Basically, you just press a button to bag a 'continue'.
Secondly, and this is the BIGGIE, rather than just providing one game which you'll probably bore of quickly, it features MORE THAN 150 ARCADE ORIGINAL GAMES, all authentically re-pixelated, from the early '80s through to the early '90s.
Included in the line-up are Operation Wolf (minus lightgun sadly), Rampage, Rastan, Street Fighter original (toughest game ever), Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Pit Fighter, Pac-Man, Galaga, Rolling Thunder, NARC, Super Sprint, Roadblasters...the list flies on near-eternally.
The only downside is that the actual cabinet, a plain dullard black, is in need of some serious decoration. Time to get the paintbrushes out...
If you've got the dough, this would be a serious talking point and bedroom/garage/highlight of any blokey home.
