Maybe it's because its Rockstar, maybe it's because we love cowboy films, but despite the glut of truly great gaming releases for 2010 (Bayonetta, Dante's Inferno, Mass Effect 2), nothing can dissipate our excitement for Red Dead Redemption.

Sequel to an underrated shooter of 2004, this gritty, mass-sprawling adventure of Wild West violence puts you in the shoes of a partially-reformed outlaw. There's loads going on, such as civil war on the Mexican border and corrupt officials looting towns, with plenty of random-generated events to throw a horse shoe in the works.
