*TRUE CRIME IS DUE OUT FOR PS3, XBOX 360 AND PC IN AUTUMN 2010*
Remember how Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels inspired everyone to make (mostly shit) Brit gangster films? Grand Theft Auto had a similar effect in gaming when it came to producing free-roaming, baseball bat-wielding gangster wig-outs.
Activision, for example, had a pop with a pair of True Crime titles in 2003 and 2005. They were decent - a bit short, more story-driven and fisticuffs-oriented - but fun(ish) to play. However, nearly five years later, you'd expect its brand new addition to be summat a bit spesh.
Set in Hong Kong, this one's inspired by overblown Asian action films, and features grisly martial arts showdowns and explosive Woo-esque set-pieces. Just from the trailer alone, you can see how different in tone it is to the GTA games.
Plus, you star as an undercover good guy. We're thinking Miami Vice or Donnie Brasco for the seedy backstreets of Hong Kong.
