One of the telly channels has recently been spinning out all the classic Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns, so this gunslinging 'anti-hero' shooter - which feels like The Outlaw Josey Wales with little tobacco chunks of Fistful Of Dollars spat in - found us in a nostalgic wave of Wild West fever. How fortuitous.
You star as a pair of sibling outlaws on the run from Confederate forces after going AWOL. After blasting your way through an American Civil War opening (which resembles a Call Of Duty game), the shooty-up shenanigans are carted off to the ruins of Mexico, where bandits, lawmen and gold make for a proper gritty comic-book yarn.
Admittedly, there's technically nothing special about its gameplay but its story and mood are full of grimey, rattlesnake-y excellence. The multiplayer modes are ace too, letting you trade bullet wounds as anything from a sniper to a gunslinger to a burly artillery man. Although to be honest, we found that playing as a sniper was a bit shit. Since when did Clint make his buck with a scope and rifle, and just standing still instead of rolling about and spitting tobacco? Our point exactly.
