WHAT'S IT ABOUT? Five friends celebrate the end of college exams by travelling to a remote cabin in the mountains of North Carolina for a holiday. A weekend of shagging and boozing beckons, but things turn nasty as one by one they become infected with a flesh-eating disease that's spreading like wildfire in the local area. Paranoia and terror take hold of the group as their skin starts to bubble and they turn on each other. Well, you would, wouldn't you?

ANY GOOD? The 'teenagers trapped in a cabin' premise has been a staple of horror movies since The Evil Dead, but first time director Eli Roth gives it a brilliant 21st century twist, substituting the usual stab-happy maniac or soul-eating demon for a disease so virulent it makes SARs look like
hay fever. Gory chills come thick and fast, as
do a series of black-hearted belly laughs, but it's the film's edgy, paranoid atmosphere that lifts it to cult classic status.

LOOK OUT FOR: Bad girl Marcy (Cerina Vincent) shaving her legs while taking a bath. Infected by the virus, she razors off big bloody swathes of her own skin. These new four-bladers really work, don't they?
