Secretary Rating: UK Certificate: 18
What's it about?
After a spell in a mental hospital, self-harming Lee Holloway (Maggie Gyllenhaal) returns to her hometown and soon secures a job as a secretary with aloof lawyer Mr Grey (James Spader). She develops a crush on her new boss and when he sees her deliberately cutting herself, they soon embark upon a bizarre sadomasochistic relationship. As Lee's feelings for her domineering employer grow stronger, however, the question becomes whether their affair will end in heartbreak or happiness.
Any good?
A totally twisted love story packed full of dark humour and eye-popping sauce, this is so hot you could fry an egg on it. Maggie Gyllenhaal (last seen in Donnie Darko) is captivating as Lee; vulnerable, damaged and yet astoundingly sexy too. Meanwhile, veteran Spader plays pervy, controlling Grey with exactly the kind of knowing authority you'd expect from any actor who's already broken every cinematic sexual taboo in cars-and-coitus classic Crash.
Look out for:
The gorgeous Gyllenhaal bending over Spader's desk for a spanking... sans panties.
Extras:
None on the rental, look out for a retail release later in the year.
