What's it about? Young Jim Halsey (C. Thomas Howell) picks up a hitcher (Rutger Hauer), who turns out to be a pathological lunatic with a death wish.
Any good? Released back in 1986, The Hitcher is a top-notch thriller-cum-horror tale that still packs a visceral punch 17 years on.
Look out for: Jennifer Jason Leigh as a doomed but delicious waitress.
Extras: The two-disc set comes complete with two short films, a superb making of... documentary and scene specific audio commentaries.There are also screenplay samples, including two deleted scenes, a trailer and a teaser.
