Trainspotting: The Definitive Edition Rating: UK Certificate: 18
What's it about?
Danny 28 Days Later Boyle's 1996 adaptation of Irvine Welsh's deliciously dark novel gets the special two-disc treatment. For anyone who has spent the last seven years potholing on Pluto, Trainspotting concerns the lives of a group of Edinburgh heroin addicts, including the conniving Sick Boy, the thoroughly hopeless Spud and the decent-but-weak Renton. Glowering in the background is Pringle-wearing, moustache-sporting psychopath Begbie.
Any good?
One of the finest British films of recent years, Trainspotting is funny, visceral and contains career-best performances from Ewan McGregor (Renton) and Robert Carlyle (Begbie).
Look out for?
Cameos from Irvine Welsh (with hair) and Dale Winton.
Extras?
A special edition truly deserving of the name. Includes a version of the film containing previously unseen footage, nine deleted scenes, a Ewan McGregor audio commentary, a 'Behind The Scenes...' documentary and absolutely loads more.
