DVD of the Week - We went to Silent Hill once. It was a dump and everyone looked like Steve Bruce

WHAT'S IT ABOUT? Japanese video game gets movie-cised! A mother follows her runaway daughter into a ghost-town, and finds herself haunted by vengeful souls.

ANY GOOD? Jumps from being spectacularly chilling to annoyingly silly, but its flashes of brilliance make it arguably the first decent game-to-film ever. Even better than Mario Bros, which was s**t.

SCARY BITS: The 'witch' burnings. Pyramid Head's movie debut.

NOT SCARY BITS: Sean Bean scratching his balls and looking perplexed in routine home scene.
