WHAT'S IT ABOUT? Johnny Cash's life story (well, half of it), showing how the country crooner got famous, got drunk, got addicted to pills and got it on wit' lady people. A few corking tunes in between.

ANY GOOD? Classy and superbly acted, even if there is a hint of 'seen one music biopic, seen 'em all'. Joaquin Phoenix's musical performances raise the tempo.

BEST BITS: Cash/Phoenix singing 'Ring Of Fire', Cash/Phoenix proposing onstage, Cash/Phoenix riding a tractor backwards into a swamp. You've Been Framed country style!
