| Riz was taken through the rigours of crack dealing by a hired 'expert' |
 |
Despite essentially being about a crack dealer, Shifty is not, we repeat NOT a transparent, two-a-penny gangster flick. It's got loads of British heart and soul to it, and 'the sensitivity of a Mike Leigh or a Shane Meadows' according to Danny Mays, its star and one of our interviewees.
In fact, the chaps (Riz Ahmed, the other main star was there too) had a load of good things to say about the movie. And we genuinely felt it was from the heart.
So what did we learn? Well, we know Riz was taken through the rigours of crack dealing by a hired "expert"; we sort of found out that Jason Flemyng doesn't mind sweeping the odd floor during a low-budget production; and, crucial this, that Mr Daniel Mays likes to look at his own iMDb page.
There's load more goodness here too. Check out the full interview by clicking top-right.
And then watch the film, for goodness sake. It's very good indeed.
